Adobe Photoshop CS5 is the latest release of Adobe's popular image editing software. Photoshop has come a long way from being a photo retouching program to being a tool of choice for creating graphic designs, especially for the web. Web specific tools are available in Photoshop, which makes it easy for a designer to create site layouts, particularly ones that can be readily implemented in HTML format.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
1
Open Adobe Photoshop CS5 and click on "File" then "New."
2
Choose "Web" in the Preset field and select the size of your website from the drop-down menu. A safe size for a website is 800 x 600, which also works well for viewing on mobile phones.
3
Create the design and layout of your website. A basic website layout contains a section for the header, body, footer and sidebars. You can base your design on the framework of your site, such as what design works best for a two-column or three-column layout. Use the Photoshop tools such as the "Shape" tool to create graphics for navigation and section headers and the "Fill" tool to add color.
4
Click on the "Slice" tool in the Toolbar. If you do not see the "Slice" tool, you may need to right-click on the "Crop" tool to view the option to use "Slice."
5
Slice your web design into sections with the tool. This allows for easy upload and download of the images once you convert it into a web page.
6
Click on "File" and "Save for Web and Devices."
7
Select the type of image file you wish to use to save your images. You can choose from JPEG, GIF and PNG formats. Click on "Save."
8
Select "HTML and Images" as the format for the file you wish to save. Click on "Save." The website is now saved with the accompanying images in a separate folder named "Images."
