Photoshop is one of the most useful graphics programs on the market. Virtually every type of media uses it extensively. It can do it all, from basic design to special effects. One interesting project is to create a smoke cloud in Photoshop.

 Open Photoshop and open a new document by going to File and clicking "New." For this example, make the size 500 x 500 pixels.

 Go to the Tools panel, and use the Fill tool to fill the canvas with black. The go to the Layers panel, right click on the layer and click "Duplicate."

 Select the new layer, go to Filters, Render and select "Render Clouds."

 Go to Image, Adjustments and select "Levels." Change the first number to 100 and the second number to 200.

 Go to the Layers panel, and change the top layers opacity to 50%. There you have it: a smoke cloud in Photoshop.
