Face shine in a photograph comes from oily skin or sweat, and can be minimized before the photograph is taken by using a matte face powder. Whether face shine was caused by the camera flash or oily skin, you can correct it in Adobe Photoshop. Even a novice Photoshop user can remove face shine to reveal a flawless face.

Difficulty: Moderate Instructions
Brush Method
1
Open Photoshop CS5. Click "File" and then "Open." Find the photograph you want to edit.
2
Click "Paintbrush" on the toolbar to your left. Use the slider under the brush preview image to resize the brush to fit the area you are working with. Lower the "Hardness" of the brush to around 40 percent.
3
Set the brush "Mode" to "Normal," and the "Opacity" to about 30 percent. Change the opacity and brush hardness percentages for lighter or more dramatic results. Click the "Airbrush" button beside "Flow."
4
Use the "Eyedropper" tool and find an area on the face that is not shiny and click. This remembers a color to "paint" on non-oily skin.
5
Brush shiny areas of the face in a circular motion. Pay special attention to the "T-Zone," which is the forehead, nose and chin. A light touch is key to a natural look. If the opacity or brush hardness is too high, it will give a harsh "photoshopped" look. Lighten the "Opacity" of the layer you painted on to fade the brush even more.
Clone Stamp Method
1
Open Photoshop CS5 and load the image you want to edit. Create a new layer by selecting "Layer" and then "New Layer."
2
Use the "Clone Stamp" tool by clicking the "S" key or using the toolbar to the left of the image. Change the clone stamp "Mode" to "Darken," and lower the "Opacity" to around 30 percent. Set to "All Layers."
3
Find an area of the face that is not shiny and matches the rest of the face. You will replace the shiny area with this color sample. Press the "Alt" key on your keyboard while clicking the left mouse button to sample the area you want to use.
4
Left-click and drag your mouse over the shiny area to paint it in with the normal, sampled skin tone.
